One comes across novelties of the year 2011 more and more often in reference articles. This is no wonder since the scope of products designed and manufactured on the basis of previous test results has narrowed down. It is only the products having done very well in the tests and thus included in next year’s product list that are presented. One of these is the pellets designed for use in feeding baskets. These pellets have already been mentioned in several articles, but now I am going to present a little more details also on how to prepare them.

The venue of my presentation is quite well-known: "Szigetes" Fishing Lake at Kiskorpád.

The cyclorama of the lake suggests it is not some sort of plastic lake.

The lake can be found in the headwaters of the River Kapos. The river flows across the lake, providing for its water supply with plenty of fresh water. I like this lake because of its marvellous surroundings and the plenty of fish in it.

Anyway, back to the use of the pellets. Basically, these are soluble pellets with a high protein content. However, they have a special feature: if moisturized properly, they get soft but do not moulder - they retain their pellet shape for a long time. What is more, if pressed when moisturized, they will take the pellet shape up again when touching water.

Feeding pellets come in such 1-kg re-sealing bags.

The pellets 1.5 mm I size, light-brown coloured, with an intensive odour of fish.

Use pellets as follows:

STEP 1: Pour as many pellets as you wish to use into a lure box or any other bowl. If used in the feeder basket only, you need a third to half of the bags content during a half-day fishing with two rods. You save a lot using these pellets.

STEP 2: Pour as much water on the pallets as will completely cover them. Do not worry, you can't spoil the pellets.

STEP 3. Leave the pellets in the water for one and a half minute. Not for a longer time because then you will really spoil them.

STEP 4: Pour the water off the pellets and let them drip a little.

STEP 5: Let the pellets dry for about 10 minutes to let them reach their right consistency. In this way, they are easy to fill the basket with, and they will dissolve properly.

This is what properly prepared pellets look like in the feeding basket.

This is how it dissolves from the basket.

Another advantage of using these pellets is that they do not require any special dishes or treatment, and they are fairly clean to use.

If you wish to flavour them (since it is also possible), add the flavour to the water. If you have some prepared pellet mixture left when you have finished fishing, store it in the refrigerator - otherwise, due to the pellets' high protein content, the mixture gets spoiled in a relatively short time.

The pellets can be used well for fishing with put-over poles as well in feeding cups fixed to the pole. You can increase the number of catches by continuously feeding small, walnut-sized pellet balls.

You can use any type of hook bait with the pellet mixture.

For this presentation, I prepared my favourite hook-bait, Soft pellets soaked in pineapple-flavoured Protein Liquid. In my experience, all fish like this bait - check the following photos for evidence.

Such a nice tench (1.16 kg) is not too rare to catch in this lake.

This 6.26-kilo carp could not resist these pellets, either.

I strongly hope that this high-quality product will bring you the pleasure of catching plenty of big fish.
